Australian artist James Corbett turns scrapped car parts into sculptures worth thousands of pounds. He creates these sculptures using old car parts salvaged from scrap yards, his sculptures sell for thousands - one piece, a ram made out of spark plugs, has already sold for a whopping £14,000.
His sculptures are made from gears, radiators, spark plugs and exhausts - anything the artist can get his hands on. After weeks spent searching for the right parts, James meticulously cleans each part and welds them together.
He said: "I was working at a wrecking yard and a guy I know who races in stock cars showed me a trophy he had won that was made of car gear sticks. I looked at it and thought that I could do a much better job so began making my own sculptures"
"After a while, people started taking more and more interest in what I was doing and now I do it for my living - it really is a dream comes true. On average, each piece takes just over two weeks to create but larger pieces can take much longer." he says
James, a father-of-two, lives in Ningi in Queensland, Australia. His sculptures use parts from old cars - French and British cars are James's favourites to salvage from
James said the welding and sculpting of the pieces is not the most time consuming part of being an artist. He says: "Often, the longest part of the process is finding the right old car parts for the sculpture"
The sculptor displayed his work at the John Davies Gallery in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucs. "My two favorite pieces I created for this show are the ram and the boar." he says
