"Diamonds are Girls Best Friend". For Australian silversmith Polly Van der Glas, diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend; Polly designs jewelry made from human teeth! Not fake completely real. They are all hand made, and include real hair as well.
“Teeth are particularly difficult to come by, so any donations are gratefully accepted” says Polly on her website. Human teeth are locally donated and sterilized, and human hair is either locally donated or sourced from India and China. She sets the teeth in sterling silver to make her unusual jewelry.
She participated in "The Wayward Fold Show" with her new collection of jewelry made from teeth and human hair, as part of the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2009.
So if anyone out there has a collection of teeth and want to get rid of, send them right over to Polly Van der Glas!
After I have seen her collection I’m wondering! Who would buy this stuff? This might be the strangest collection of Jewelry I’ve ever seen. I don't consider myself a fan of this at all. Would any one really want to wear someone else's tooth around his finger or neck?
