I saw on YouTube a reality T.V. show game called The Amazing Race in which teams of two people who have some form of a preexisting personal relationship, race around the world in competition with other teams. Contestants strive to arrive first at "pit stops" at the end of each leg of the race to win prizes and to avoid coming last, which carries the possibility of elimination or a significant disadvantage in the following leg.

Contestants travel to and within multiple countries in a variety of transportation means, including planes, taxis, rental cars, trains, buses, boats, and by foot. The clues in each leg point take the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. These challenges are related in some manner to the country or culture where they are located. Teams are progressively eliminated until three are left; at that point, the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded a grand prize of $1 million.

The amazing thing to me is that one episode took place in Kuwait.

Right, after I had seen the previous video, I was surprised! The funny thing is that I’m from Kuwait and lived my whole life in Kuwait and I don’t know where Souq Sulaibiya or Camel Race Club is?! They should’ve gone to Souq Sharq or The Avenues or Kuwait Science Center or even old markets like Mubarekya. There are more exciting and beautiful places in Kuwait than camel racing or Souq Sulaibiya. I wonder why they took them to these places.

On the other hand I read in facebook “A New TV Show is coming to a TV screen near you.  Filled with Adventure, Fun, and Excitement. Two Teams of 5 Chase around Kuwait to get to the Ultimate Prize”. The show called Ken-Niz (Kanz means treasure in Arabic). It’s seems that the show is the Kuwaiti version of the amazing race. The show will be slated to air march 2010 on Alwatan TV. I hope that through Ken-Niz we will see the beautiful face of Kuwait and the nice tourist’s attraction rather than Souq Sulaibiya or Camel race club.
