For the first time, Japanese researchers have developed transparent goldfish with real looking scales and skin. This finding has come out after two years of research from Mie University and Nagoya University.
Such goldfish are in demand as their organs and blood can be observed without dissections. However, a section of people are against the development of such transparent creatures.
As per the study, some goldfish could grow and weigh about 2 kilograms like the zebra fish, which are widely used in laboratory experiments.
As goldfish are bigger, it would be easier to observe how illness could affect its organs. It would be also easy to make goldfish produce proteins, look into them in the living body and make use of them for drug discovery research. According to reports, the transparent goldfish are also less expensive than the zebra fish.
