Kuwait Zoo

It was almost 9 pm, my kids' bedtime, and I remembered the fantastic lion king movie when they asked me to think of a story to tell.

I began telling the story and instead of sleeping, they started to ask me some questions like: Do lions talk to animals with a language they can understand? Why do lions eat meat? Are lions stronger than elephants?

Seeing how interested they were in learning more about animals, and to help answer these questions, I decided to take them on a visit to the zoo.

We took the 5th ring road heading into the Al-Omariya zone in Al-Farwaniya. After getting the tickets and the park map, we started our tour of the park. I always read the information card in front of each cage that displays information about the animal and its species, to help answer their questions.

We spent an amazing day at the zoo; they were so happy to see many different types of animals. They were also happy to learn about the animals' way of life, their behaviors, how they feed and protect their babies, the environments in which they live, and many other interesting facts.

The park contains 4 sections:
1 – Animal section.
2 - Cultural center and the life sciences section.
3 - Services and maintenance section.
4 - Veterinary clinic section.

The park is located in Al-Omeriya off the 5th Ring Road in Farwaniya district.
The zoo opens daily from 8 am until 12 pm and from 4 pm until 8 pm and is closed on Sundays.

‘Living Condition Of Kuwait Zoo Animals Atrocious’
PETA Asia Urges EPA To Ban Import Of More Animals
KUWAIT CITY, July 15: PETA Asia Director, Jason Baker, said that the living conditions of the Kuwait Zoo animals are atrocious and that they are continuously suffering a miserable life.
In a letter received by the Arab Times on Thursday addressed to the Director General of the Environment Public Authority, Baker urged the director to immediately ban the import of anymore animals to the zoo.

jahanbin we here kn Kuwait agenda we write only about services and places avilable in Kuwait.Kuwait Zoo is a govermental sector not private .If you would like to apply for a job as a vet I think u can do the following:

اخواني الاعزاء
يوجد لدي ثلاث ضباع كانو عندي من يوم انهم جراوه صغار ومربيهم عندي في المزرعه في السعوديه .. مادري اذا يمكن لادارة الحديقه التفاهم معاي علي شرائهم والا لا .. ياليت احصل علي رد ولكم كل التقدير والاحترام ..؟

Hello Kim, Thank you for your comment. They have done a lot over the last years to improve the zoo. It is a small zoo you cant compare it to the western standards but it’s quite fun for the kids especially if the weather is good, it is a nice family day out. What would be really nice if someone visit the zoo and give us his/her feedback.

I've never been and had some preconceived notion it would be awful. Thank you I will definitely do this in the near future. Your article and lovely pics make it look like a fun thing to do with a 6 yr old kid.
